The plant comes from Southern Europe, probably from Bulgaria, though it can be found in all regions nowadays. It blooms in Spring and Summer, easily growing in all types of terrain, and often considered an invasive plant. 1 For ease of accession of thorns to the fruits, the plant was called Tribulus meaning "persecuted". It is a creeping and herbaceous perennial plant that can behave as an annual plant in colder climates. It features lots of thorns that appear even in the fruits. Its extended branches may reach about 50 cm and form small and opposite leaves, forming from 5 to 8 pairs. In Spring and Summer the plant produces yellow flowers with five petals. The flowers are small and are born in the encounter of the leaves.
